Fuel consumption has dropped by 15%

The BMW i8 has been discontinued. The automaker did not celebrate the end to its production due to the current pandemic. However, announced that production of the electrified sports cars would cease by mid-April.

The final output of the i8 was 369 horsepower (275kilowatts) with 420 pound-feet (351 Newton-meters) torque. These numbers are not bad considering they come from a 1.5-liter Inline-3 gasoline engine. The electric motor is powered by an 11.6 kWh battery.
DTE Systems wanted the i8 more and so the tuning company created the PowerControl RX. DTE’s plug-and-play chip-tuning module allows for the control of nine channels in a multimap. This allows DTE to produce an additional 40 horsepower and 49 lbft of torque, which gives it a final output power of 409 HP and 469 Lb-ft.

In its stock form, the i8 can travel from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.6 seconds. We can expect a decrease in power output to the i8, which would put it at low 4s. DTE has not yet disclosed any performance ratings.

DTE Managing Director Dr. Michael Krecek said that increasing the power output of the i8 was “quite challenging”, but not with DTE’s model. The PowerControl RX supports all advanced engine technologies including hybrids and biturbo systems. In its press release, the company mentioned that it can provide additional boosts for cars made by Porsche, AMG and Audi RS as well as BMW M.

DTE claimed that the PowerControl RX, which increases the output of the i8, also improves its fuel consumption by 15%.
