Rolls-Royce renders a luxury supercar with a mid-engine engine

The Spirit of Ecstasy is still with us.

Rolls-Royce is a well-known brand with a long history of luxury cars. Rolls recently added an SUV to its lineup, the Cullinan. Who knows what the company might have in store. A supercar is one type of car that doesn’t fit with Roll’s unique lineup. Rolls-Royces don’t have a slow car, but they aren’t. This automaker has a different goal. What if Rolls was aiming Bugatti? What if Rolls produced a luxury supercar.

Rain has created a new rendering that explores this theme, creating a Rolls supercar that looks almost like its old cousin. Prisk describes the difficulties of applying the company’s design language to a sleek, two door supercar. He also mentions that it was difficult to mix Rolls’ classic design lines and a mid-engine layout. He was pleased with the final result, but he admitted in a Facebook post that he struggled to find a reason for the car’s existence.

It’s a supercar that looks stretched across the wheels. The company’s iconic design, which features a long front end and a short rear deck, is mangled by the mid-engine layout. The front clip is sporty and sleek, but not the Rolls-style presence. The front clip features a narrow grille and thin headlights. The Spirit of Ecstasy is right there, on the hood or in the trunk. As we move down the side, you can see the oddly shaped doors with angular fender. The rear blends into a long back that allows for the V12.

Rolls has not yet indicated that it will introduce a supercar to its fleet. Rolls teased its future in 2016 with the 103EX Concept. The 103EX concept was a sleek, luxurious car that came with both autonomous technology and batteries. It has a Rolls-Royce-like hood and a long rear deck. It was not a supercar with a mid-engine.
