Brabus-Tuned, China Only Sporty Crossover: Wey VV7 GTE Debuts

It will be available in the People’s Republic starting in July.

The Wey brand is a luxury arm of China’s Great Wall. It focuses mainly upon SUVs and crossovers. The marque signed a contract approximately one year ago with the renowned German tuning company Brabus, and the first fruits of this cooperation are these. The Wey VV7 GT.

China’s midsize CUV was launched in China in 2017. A modified GT trim has been developed by the Bottrop, Germany-based tuners. This model is based upon the Haval H6, which is a crossover available in certain European Union countries. It has the form of a sporty coupe/crossover, with a design that is generally inspired by European automobile industry.Brabus has done styling upgrades such as wider fenders that house 21-inch wheels, completely redesign front and rear bumpers, an extra diffuser at back which integrates larger exhaust pipes and new taillights using LED technology. Although the Chinese manufacturer has not yet provided photos, it is believed that the cabin is being redesigned.

The upgraded appearance does not come with an identical power upgrade. The VV7 GT from Brabus still uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline motor with 227 horsepower (169 Kilowatts) & 285 pound-feet (387 Newton meters) of torque. A seven-speed automatic gearbox transmits power only to the front wheels. Prices start at 191,800 Yuan or about $27,100 at current exchange rates.

Although the standard VV7 GT can be ordered with a plug in hybrid powertrain, it is not known if the Brabus-tuned model will have the same electrified motor. Sales are expected to start in July.
