Volkswagen’s latest compact van for commercial use was unveiled earlier in the week. There will be four options for diesel engines in the new Volkswagen Caddy, including two BlueMotion units and two petrol models.

BlueMotion TDI engines are available in 75 and 102 PS (55 kW and 75 kW), as well as turbo diesels of 110 and 140 PS (81 kW and 103 kW). Each unit features common rail direct injectors and a particulate filter. The 102 PS unit is able to get a seven speed DSG and four-wheel drive. The 140 PS model can hook up to a six-speed DSG. The two BlueMotion units have start/stop and regenerative braking to help reduce fuel consumption.

The 102-PS engine consumed 4.9 liters per 100 km of diesel, while the most powerful petrol engine used 6.6 liters. Two turbocharged direct-injection TSI 1.2 liter petrol engines produce 86 PS and 105 PS, respectively (63 and 77 kW). The 102-PS unit emits 154 grams CO2 per mile.

There will be several models of the van, including the panel and Kombi Caddy versions, the Startline, Trendline, Comfortline and Comfortline versions, for a more comfortable Caddy and the Tramper camper van. The van’s models all have a second row of removable seats. This is a first for Caddy. The Caddy has 3,030 liters of cargo room. However, those who need more space can choose the Caddy Maxi. This model features an extended wheelbase that allows for cargo up to 3,880 Liters. Every model comes with ESP, daytime running light and hill assist.

The new Volkswagen Caddy has a lower price, starting at EUR13,595 including taxes. A Startline model will cost at least EUR14,205. The VW Caddy’s German sales will start in September. Sales in other markets will follow shortly.
