The company is currently working on a new PHEV system.
The Ranger, one of Ford’s global leaders, is sold in North America and Europe as well as Australia. It can have different specifications and powertrains depending on where it is sold, but it will always be the same truck. A new comprehensive report on the next-generation Ranger could also be valid for Europe and the United States.
CarExpert has obtained preliminary information about the 2022 Ranger, and the 2022 Everest. The latter is the Australian SUV version. According to the publication, the pickup will get a new plug-in hybrid powertrain that has never been used in any Ford product.
The new Ranger will be able to choose from two diesel options. These will likely be available in Australia and Europe, but not the USA. There are two options: a base 2.0-liter twin turbo motor with 210 horsepower (157kW), and a larger 3.0-liter V6 dual-turbo diesel that produces 250 horsepower (186kW) and 443 Lb-ft (660 Nm) of torque. The current 3.2-liter five cylinder diesel will be retired.
The 3.0-liter engine is the most likely to replace the existing four-cylinder twin-turbo Ranger Raptor. CarExpert believes that the off-road truck will get the latest Fox Racing shock absorbers. This is similar to what’s on the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor.
The new Ranger will be equipped with Ford’s SYNC4 infotainment software, which features a 12.8-inch vertical display at the center console as well as wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity. The screen will be joined by a 10.25-inch screen that will be placed in front of the driver’s eyes. This layout is very similar to the Mustang Mach-E’s interior.
