Are you ready to spice up Crosstrek?
Subaru unveiled its new Desert Racer in the 2019 Baja 500. It’s a radical vehicle, and one of the most imposing Subaru Crosstreks (or XV in some markets). It does use the small crossover, though we doubt that you will recognize it.
The Desert Racer was a race buggy with exposed tires and a high ride height. It also had bull bars and other features. Quirt Crawford built the 300-horsepower (223 watt) 2.5-liter Boxer engine.
Subaru Desert Racer was an inspiration to tuners and off-roaders alike. The problem is that most of the parts can’t be found in a regular Crosstrek. What can you do? You can start small by purchasing a crossover lift kit. This is a kit that was designed by Crawford Performance, the company that produced the boxer engine for Desert Racer.
The Crawford Performance CDR Series Lift Kit is available at the website. It provides a 1.5-inch rear lift and a 2-inch front lift. The aluminum spacer is corrosion-resistant and the swaybar link extensions maintain factory sway bars. This upgrade is even better because your Crosstrek’s OEM ABS sensors and brake line mounts are preserved.
The Crawford lift kit includes two 2-inch aluminum spacers (front), two 1.5-inch aluminum spacers(rear), six long extensions (front), and four short extensions (rear), as well as all hardware. The website also contains a detailed installation guide.
The Crawford Crosstrek lift is $549.95 for those who are interested. As of writing, only 10 units are currently available.
