A few weeks ago, the next-gen model was first spotted.
The Mercedesfamily is so diverse that there is always something happening in the lineup. The three-pointed star is never satisfied, regardless of whether it’s a facelift or a new model. The company’s most-sold crossover will eventually transition to the next generation. This has been speculated.
The Kolesa signed the next design exercise approximately two weeks after the initial batch of spy photos with the modified GLC. The images of a camouflaged prototype suggested Mercedes intends to expand the GLK model. Although it is not clear if this will justify a seven-seat model, the rendering attempts to show the crossover’s larger footprint.
Expect the GLC to receive almost the same goodies as Mercedes, regardless of what Mercedes has to tow for the next-generation . The Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) has been updated. It also features electrified and plug in powertrains and more advanced safety tech. Future models from Daimler will be more screen-heavy inside. The S Class and the EQS are expected to follow this trend later in the year.
Spy shots show the redesign of the C-Class’s dashboard. This design should be much more similar to its crossover counterpart. The touchscreen interface will now be integrated into the central console, as it should on all cars. To increase the versatility of the GLC, a larger cabin and more cargo space should be possible.
Although the AMG GLC63 will be the crown jewel of the range, it may have a different powertrain. We are finding it difficult to believe a wild rumor that the C63 will lose half its cylinders and switch from a V8 engine to an electrified four pot, adapted from the “45”. The horsepower should be the same as today’s model, but it will actually offer more torque.
GLC will include the “coupe” model, a long-wheelbase variant for China and an all-electric EQC. The regular model will arrive in 2021 or 2022.
