The straight-line performance of one of these cars was amazing.
We published many drag racing videos, as you may have noticed. It’s impossible not to. They are fun to watch. We believe that car’s straight-line performance makes up a large portion of their overall appeal. But not all.
Although this drag race video may not be as impressive as Motor Trend’s Ultimate Drag Race 8, or the race between an F1 car, a superbike and a fighter jet, it is still significant as it’s a continuation to a drag racing event that took place almost two years ago. The Acura NSX beat Lamborghini Aventador, but it was only one run. We aren’t sure if that’s why we doubt it.
This is not a bad thing, as the Huracan’s power is lower than that of the Aventador. The NSX is capable of beating a lighter Aventador (LP 700-4), with both cars running all four wheels. What are the chances it could also beat a less powerful rear wheel-drive Huracan (LP 580-2)? It’s quite high.
Here is a quick overview of the specifications for each vehicle. The NSX’s engine is a 3.5-liter turbocharged, turbocharged V6 with three electric motors. It produces a total output 573 horsepower and 476 pound feet of torque. The power is transmitted to all wheels by a nine speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Huracan runs on the rear wheels, as previously mentioned. The engine is a 5.2L V10 that produces 572 horsepower through a seven speed DCT. The Huracan weighs in at 300 pounds less.
The NSX is certain to win, as the history and output figures of the Aventador are now open. This drag race had two rounds with two runs. It was the best part. The first race was at a stop, the second was a rolling start race. Is it possible that the NSX won this race from Lamborghini? You can see the video below. The drag race begins at 2:48.
What about a drag race between NSX and 770-hp Aventador SVJ. Is that possible? Like, please?
