It’s possible that it is true.
The Cadillac CT5V is and not its successor. After the CT5_V debut last year, this is now a well-established fact. It features a 355-horsepower (365-kilowatt) 3.0-liter twin turbocharged V6. Although the figure was eventually increased to 360 horsepower (268 kW), it is clearly in a different universe than the 640-hp (477kW) monster Caddy.
The replacement for the CT5V Blackwing is actually the CT5-V Blackwing. Cadillac has recently statedthat it will have an old-school manual transmission. Power figures weren’t made available in that announcement, but Car and Driver claims to have some inside info suggesting the new super sedan will boast 650 hp (485 kW) from a reworked-but-familiar 6.2-liter supercharged V8.
The report does not cite any source and the statement doesn’t address this. Motor1.com Cadillac would not confirm details except to say that the new sedan will come with a manual transmission and the 4.2-liter Blackwing twin turbo V8. This means that while you should take all of this with a grain, the engine selection does align with. We’ve heard rumors before . That is what we mean literally and Literally, as we’ve seen Spy video Camouflaged CT5 prototypes emitting an audible V8 sound.
Cadillac has confirmed that the twin-turbo V8 will not be offered. However, it seems that the Blackwing can still produce a lot more horsepower. It would definitely give the CT5V Blackwing the upper hand in this segment.
The CT4V is another upcoming Blackwing from Caddy’s stable. The details for this model are not available, but it is believed to borrow the 3.6-liter twin turbocharged V6 from ATS-V. The application produced 464 horsepower (346 kW) so we expect the CT4V Blackwing will offer at least the same power when it is finally revealed. Although we don’t have any specific date, we anticipate seeing both cars sometime in the summer.
