Toyota Supra Gets A Six-Speed Manual:

A limited-run GRMN may also be on the horizon.

According to a rumor, the Toyota Supra model will receive a manual gearbox as well as a limited-run GRMN version. According to a rumor from Japan’s em>Mag X, the company will make improvements to the coupe each year to keep interest in it.

Toyota was reportedly aware of the demand for a manual gearbox. According to MagX, the desire to have a manual gearbox was enough to get the developers to reconsider.
There are no details on when the manual may arrive. Toyota has already detailed the 2021 Supra so we don’t think the new gearbox will be available before the 2022 model year.

More information is available about the Supra GRMN. According to rumors, the Supra GRMN could be a hardcore performance coupe that gets the twin-turbo Inline-Six from the BMW M3 or M4. This could translate to a power output of about 510 horsepower (380 kW), if Toyota has access to the Competition version.

Toyota Supra Gets A Six-Speed Manual:

BMW claims that it won’t give the engine to Toyota. This could lead to a small run of 200 Supra GRMNs. According to reports, the sportier model will arrive in 2023.

Alternativly, the Supra GRMN may be equipped with a turbocharged six-cylinder engine making 395 hp (294 kW) instead of the 335 hp (335 kW). The Supra GRMN would be lighter due to the increased carbon fiber.

It is interesting to see that Supra chief engineer Tesuya Taka had previously stated that the manual gearbox was a priority. Only one was available at a given time by the team.
