McLaren Special Operations created six custom MP4-12Cs with styling differences compared to the regular models.
Some people have criticised the McLaren MP4-12C’s design for not being as exciting as it should. A few customers wanted something different so the local dealer joined McLaren Special Operations and created six custom MP4-12Cs.
The Project Alpha program includes six cars. Photos from the leaked brochure show the changes that the company made to the cars. Jalopnik was able to get a brochure from a reader, and then contacted McLaren for more information. Gloss black accents are added to the roof, splitter, and rear deck of the MP4-12C, as well as fender louvers and carbon fiber accents. The cars are finished in the usual white, orange, and grey paint colors by the automaker.
These cars are all 2012MY, but they will be able to take advantage of the 2013MY performance boost. McLaren will make two cars in each color. Each car will produce 616 horsepower (459 kW). These MP4-12Cs were created by the same team that made the X-1, which was revealed at Pebble Beach two weeks ago.
