Corvette C8 Convertible, C8.R Racing Car To Be Revealed This Autumn

Soon, we will see the official track-only and open-top C8.

You probably already know a lot of information about the Chevrolet Corvette C8. We’ve been dumping you with all the news bits about it. A new mid-engine American supercar, the Chevrolet Corvette C8, is now available. It costs less than $60,000.

The official debut date for the Corvette C8 Convertible as well as the C8.R racecar remains a mystery. The open-top C8 and its track only version were shown towards the end of the live streaming video of the C8 unveil. Marvel could be credited with teaching us how to finish movies to the end.

We knew then that the Corvette’s mid-engined Corvette would soon be revealed; no one outside of ChevyHQ knows when. This latest Chevrolet video, however, has made that clear.

You can see the video on the top of this page. It is the same live stream video. The description contained five words, which prompted me to write this article.

Chevy doesn’t want to tell you what’s in the description. This means that the C8.R racecar and the Vette Convertible will be officially unveiled within the next two-months.

What do we know about Convertible and C8.R, then? It’s not a lot. The C8 Convertible will likely get the same 6.2-liter LT2 engine that produces 490 horsepower or 495 hp with an optional Z51 Performance Package. Based on the audio included with the video, the C8.R sounded more like it had flat-plane crank.

These are speculations at the moment, so take these with a lot of salt. Let’s wait for the official debut in the coming months.
