It could either resurrect Terracan’s moniker or replace it with Pavise.
There is no stopping the SUV train. There are a lot of SUV options available, with many sizes and shapes to choose from. However, there is one segment that stands out. It’s not common to find large, full-size body-on-frame SUVs. Hyundai is rumored in this segment. This unofficial rendering by Enoch Gonzales of Behance.net gives us an idea of the potential design.
Gonzales actually created several versions of the fictional Hyundai, with a variety of colors and features, which you can view on his Behance page . However, the basic design remains the same. The crossbar is a unique twist on Hyundai’s family grille. Although it is a departure from the current large-than-life grille designs this SUV has, it gives it a unique look. The sleek daytime lamps and large headlights match Hyundai’s design language better. The backside is a little more inspired by the Kona, which has its lower and upper banks of lights.
This vehicle is purely speculation at this stage. Although we haven’t seen any camouflaged prototypes yet, rumors suggest that Hyundai is considering the full-size segment. In New Zealand, Hyundai registered the name Pavise. Last year, Lorenz Glaab, Head of Global Product Management at Hyundai Motor Group, mentioned plans to create something that would sit above the Palisade. These renderings show Gonzales envisioning a revival Hyundai’s Terracan name for the name. It was last used on a short-lived midsize SUV, the Mitsubishi Pajero.
If prices are controlled, it could be profitable to enter the full-size market. General Motors sold more than 250,000 body-on frame SUVs in 2019, if you add up sales of the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon as well as the Cadillac Escalade. This is an area where there are few competitors, but GM’s long-standing dominance in the segment would make it difficult for Hyundai to break into.
