It should be able to carry the oily bits of the new Hyundai Tucson.
The current-generation Sportage received a new Gravity trim for its last model year in South Korea’s domestic market. The latest version of this compact crossover is shown here with a variety of dark exterior accents that are similar to the Mohave Gravity earlier in the year. The fifth-generation Sportage will be available in April 2021, if you prefer to wait.
Kia is currently engineering the LWB model to cater to markets that require more legroom. According to Logic, many of the oily bits are sourced from the new Tucson. So expect turbocharged 1.6 liter gasoline engines and diesel engines with all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive. The Hyundai revamped model is available in six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch auto transmissions. A plug-in hybrid will be offered with an electrified, 1.6-liter engine delivering a combined 261 horsepower.
The 2022 Tucson is equipped with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine that produces 190 horsepower (142kilowatts) & 182 pound-feet (226 newton meters) which are delivered to the wheels via an eight-speed auto. A hybrid 1.6-liter with 230 horsepower and the plug-in hybrid that we discussed earlier will be available for eco-conscious buyers.
To shorten the time until the April 2021 debut, we expect to see more of the 2022 Kia Sportage’s prototypes in the months ahead. We were impressed by the Futuron crossover concept in November and are eager to see if some of its design elements will be reflected on the compact crossover.
