Russia is a country where you can always feel at home. You can be at home even when you are on the move.
The crazy Russians from Garage54 on YouTube are now involved in a new project. Motor1.com loves recreational cars. So we were thrilled to see the skilled mechanics working on a motorhome. It is not a regular RV, but a true mobile home. It’s a house that was built on top of an old UAZ bus chassis. This is the definition of a motorhome.
You will need to disassemble the bus’s exterior panels and cut them off. Additional sidebars are added to the chassis, which will help it support the extra weight. The house’s walls are made from wood beams that are perfectly aligned to form a large box.
After all walls have been built, mechanics will cut openings for the windshield, rear window, and side doors. You know what? A house without windows or doors is a house on wheels.
It’s time to perform the first road test. The motorhome can be driven despite not having side mirrors for maneuvering. Surprisingly. A power steering system would have been nice considering the weight of the motorhome, but it is not a problem to turn the steering wheel when the vehicle is stationary.
Now it’s time for the roof to be put on. The video shows that the entire process takes less than an hour. The mechanics then install windows and a wooden floor in the tiny house and cover it with decorative tiles.
We are eager to see the next episode in Garage 54, where the motorhome will likely be driven on public roads.
