Honda Accord Drag Races Ford Mustang and Subaru WRX.

At the finish line, Mustang and Accord are very close.

Throttle house continues to show that the Honda Accord with its 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder is capable. The family sedan is up against a Ford Mustang EcoBoost and Subaru WRX.

Each vehicle comes with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Although the video doesn’t show WRX’s interior, all the other competitors seem to have an auto gearbox.

The Jetta and WRX start from a standing position, so the first race will be held at a standing start. The VW has some really bad tires, and is placed last by a large margin. The three other cars are close to the finish line. The Mustang wins, but it is followed closely by the Accord. The WRX is catching up to them.

Next is a race with no launch control. Both the Mustang and Accord win, but by a wider margin. Although the WRX pulls late, it is not strong enough to defeat the Accord. The GLI isn’t far behind the rest of the pack, once again.

Finally, we are able to get away from the roll. Although the Accord leads early, the Mustang takes just a little bit of the lead. These two cars are almost side-by-side at the finish, but the Ford wins the race by one nose. Surprise! The GLI is third, just a few seconds behind the Honda. The WRX comes in a distant fourth.

These results show that the Accord’s larger engine can deliver impressive acceleration in straight lines, even with a modest claimed output 252 horsepower (188 kilowatts), and 273 pound feet (370 Newton-meters). The Subaru could also be more competitive if there is even a little snow.
