The MK5 is a lightweight rear-wheel-drive two-seater that Magnum Cars hopes to replace the BAC Mono and KTM X-Bow. The engine is a rear-mounted 4-cylinder engine that produces 250 bhp (186kW). It is supported by a six-speed sequential gearbox, a limited slip differential and a six speed sequential gearbox.
The engine’s 11,000 rpm redline helps the MK5 accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h), in 3.2 seconds, and on to a top speed at 149 mph (248 km/h). It weighs in at just 545kg (1,200 lbs), which allows it to produce a power-toweight ratio of 460 horsepower/ton.
The wheels are 18-inch alloy and have 225/40 R18 front tires. It also has 265/35R18 high-performance road legal competition tires. The ventilated discs are equipped with CNC-machined aluminum hubs and the suspension system includes front and rear adjustable pushrods with two-way dampers, adjustable anti-roll bars and two-way dampers.
Magnum MK5 measures 3914mm (154.1 inch) long, 1884mm (74.2 inch) wide, and 1069mm (42.1%) high. It comes with a six-point race-spec harness and two carbon fiber composite seats. The Magnum MK5 also features a rear-view camera and monitor, as well as a 310mm steering wheels wrapped in weather-resistant suede. It has a quick release feature and comes with a backlight digital monitor with built-in data acquisition and lap timer.
The 2014 Magnum MK5 is already available for order and has a starting price of 139,000 USD. The company plans to build 20 cars per year and the first will be delivered by the end 2014.
