2020 Corvette Performance Data Numbers are Officially the Fastest Ever

Even Chevy engineers were amazed by the C8 Corvette’s performance.

Official information confirms that the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe The Z51 Package can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.9 seconds. It covers the quarter-mile in 11.2 secs at 121 mph (195 Kph). The new ‘Vette can reach 60 in just 3.0 seconds. It also speeds through the quarter mile at 123 mph (198 km/h) because of its slippery body. These figures are not yet available for the Bowtie. convertible model, It should take a few seconds longer than the other variants because of the additional weight of the roof mechanism.

According to the automaker, the Corvette Stingray coupe is now the fastest base model in its long history. In the announcement of performance figures, Alex MacDonald from Chevrolet, the vehicle performance manager, stated that the 2020 Stingray’s performance “far exceeded our expectations.”

The 2020 ‘Vette’s 6.2-liter LT2 v8 engine has the same displacement as its predecessor, but Chevy engineers have promised a complete overhaul of the new mill. Mike Kociba (Assistant Chief Engineer of Small Block Engines), stated that the LT2 is the engine, not the LT1.2, when presenting the changes.

Major changes include engine with revised camshafts which increase the duration of valve lift. The mill is able to breathe through an upgraded intake manifold that has a larger plenum volume. To save weight, the new exhaust has four-into-1 twisted headers. The company makes them instead of using a casting.

The engine’s dry-sump oil system includes three scavenge pump pumps and can withstand sustained lateral accelerations of 1.25G. This is what you would see on the track. Chevy’s overall center-of-gravity can be lowered by the low-profile oil pan.

Chevy sources a custom, eight-speed dual clutch transmission from Tremec to power the engine. The integrated construction combines the final drive, differential, controls system, sensors, cooling hardware, lubrication and cooling hardware into one unit. Owners can enjoy the exhaust’s sounds by pulling the shift paddles behind their steering wheel. This allows them to freely rev the engine in neutral.

Drivers can choose from three driving modes via the transmission. Tour is calm and smooth. Sport is more aggressive and Track focuses on maintaining the engine’s maximum performance range.

Due to a delay caused by the UAW strike against General Motors, the C8 Corvette will be available in American showrooms in February 2020 .
