2022 Genesis G90 Speculatively Redesigned Based on Spy Shots

The next Genesis to embrace the “two lines” design theme is the G90.

Some people might have been surprised to see spy photos of the camouflaged Genesis G90 prototypes being tested at home in South Korea. Although the large luxury sedan feels fresh after the two-year-old update in its domestic market, it was not the next-generation model.

These spy photos were used by our Russian friends at Kolesa to speculate on the design direction that Genesis’ future flagship will follow. The next G90 will feature split headlights in an attempt to emulate the “two lines” design of its SUV sibling the GV90. The smaller GV80, and recently unveiled GV70 all follow the same design as the second-generation G80.
Although the rendering below does not show the interior, prototypes for the 2022 G90 have been captured with both the touchscreen infotainment and digital instrument cluster housed in one piece of glass. This dual-screen arrangement is similar to the one found in many Mercedes models. However, Genesis will surely add its own twist.

Although technical specifications remain a mystery, we are hearing that the naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 will continue to be available. The G90 will be getting air suspension to provide a smooth ride, as would be expected from a large premium sedan. According to local reports, the Genesis model will get an advanced level 3 semiautonomous driving system.

According to recent reports, the KDM region’s official unveiling will take place before the end 2021. Genesis is currently working on a G70 wagon and an electric eG80. It also plans to return to the G80 Sport, as well as a dedicated EV cross-over codenamed “JW”, which supports wireless charging.
