2022 Toyota Aygo Revealed With Perky Looks Following First Spy Shots
The X-shaped front fascia has probably been a thing of the passé.

We received official confirmation last week in the form first spy photos of the model. Two prototypes of the city cars were captured by our photographers on public roads. One of them was wearing its production body with lights.

Our colleagues at Motor.es were inspired by this first glimpse at the next-gen Aygo to create a virtual preview. Although it is based on the current generation Toyota Yaris, several modifications to its design make this a possible early preview.
First spy photos indicated that Toyota would take a more conservative approach to designing the new Aygo. Camouflaged prototypes, which were identical in shape and proportions to the current Aygo, appeared very similar. The car appears shorter from some angles but this could just be the camera playing tricks on us.

Most of the visual changes to the front fascia will focus on. The design of the city car will likely remain almost entirely without a grille, with a small upper grille and one slightly larger below. In the new design, the X-motif of the current model is missing. Instead, vertical LED light strips are likely to serve as daytime running lights.

Early rumors suggest that the Aygo will launch with a new family of three-cylinder engines. A zero-emission
version of the model is also in development, according to some reports.

We’ll find out whether this rendering is a true preview of the model in the first half 2021, when we will likely receive spy photos from Japan. The official debut of the model will not be made before the end next year.
