The ID.3hatchback and ID.4crossover, as well as the upcoming ID.5 coupe-crossover, VW is currently working on a production model of its ID Vizzion concept sedan, with an eye toward putting the electric car on sale in 2023. According to Automotive News Europe, the engineers are currently developing it under codename AeroB.
VW plans to offer both rear- and all-wheel drive powertrains for the electric sedan. According to Automotive News Europe, the electric sedan would be capable of reaching speeds of 62 mph (100 km/hr) with AWD. Rear-drive versions would make it take 8.5 seconds.
Although the Vizzion concept will be the model, the Vizzion team plans to make the production model look very similar. However, they are focusing on shaping the body to maximize aerodynamic efficiency and cut through the air. This model will have a low drag coefficient, minimal front cross-sectional space and a low drag coefficient.
The 2018 Geneva Motor Show saw the debut of Vizzion. VW had an idea of a Vizzion concept that could be powered by a 111-kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a range of 413 miles (665 km). A large cabin was built with four captain’s seats to maximize the space efficiency of an electric motortrain. in 2019 the company presented the ID Space Vizzion wagon concept which was basically the same but with an extended roof.
Automotive News Europe reports that VW plans to eventually replace the Passat or Arteon with the ID.6 in its European lineup. However, the Passat wagon will still be available at the dealership. However, buyers who prefer EVs would have the option to purchase the production version.
