2019 Lamborghini Urus Is A 650-HP Supercar Disguised As An SUV

Lamborghini is finally done with its long wait and has unveiled its new Urus SUV. It’s stunning as you would expect. The production Urus shares many similarities to the 2012 concept, but the look is even more aggressive. The Rambo Lambo’s successor has distinctive features such as a sleek fascia, slim headlights and colored accents in its grille. The same aggressive spirit is also found under the hood.

The Urus is powered by a biturbo V8 4.0-liter engine that produces 650 horsepower (or 484 kilowatts) as well as 627 pound-feet (685 Newton-meters) of torque. It also returns a respectable 22.2 MPG. It is paired with an eight-speed ZF auto transmission, which features a torque converter. This is a first for Lamborghini. The standard all-wheel drive and Aventador S’ borrowed rear wheel steering allow the Urus to accelerate to speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.59 seconds. It can also reach a maximum speed of 186mph (300 kmh) with launch control.

The SUV is built on the same MLB platform that the Bentley Bentayga and Audi Q7. As such, some cues are carried over. The Urus weighs in at 4,750 pounds (2.154 kg), which is a remarkable weight for such a heavy vehicle. The Urus also has the “largest brakes” in the world, massive 17.3-inch carbon ceramic wheels for the front axle and 10-piston brake calipers. Standard equipment includes a set of 21-inch alloys, but buyers have the option to add 22- or 23 inch units with bespoke Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber tires.

The cabin of the Urus has a central stack design and lots of angular edges. The sports car range also features a flat-bottom steering wheel with a red starter button. The shifter is located in front of the starter button, with a mode selector right next to it. The Urus will feature a digital instrument cluster and a variety of driving modes, as we have seen in the previous videos: Strada (Sand), Terra, Off-Road, Neve (Snow), and Sport (Sand).

Lamborghini’s Sant’Agata Bolognese production plant in Italy will build the Urus. Early examples are expected to arrive in 2018. Lamborghini anticipates selling around 3,500 Urus annually and pricing will start at $200,000 At launch, the biturbocharged engine is the only one available. A plug in hybrid option will be available in 2019.
