Rumors: Audi RS6 V10 to Be Replaced By Twin Turbo V8

Audi could be launching a twin-turbo V8. It could replace the V10 in many of their popular models.

Audi could be limiting the use of the V10 engine, which has been a favourite on the RS6, S6 and S8. The company plans to introduce a twin-turbo V8 instead.

The environment is driving the changes. The new V8 will, according to some, be more powerful and produce less emissions. Audi has chosen to launch the latest R8 Spyder, which is powered by a 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10. This unit generates 525 horsepower.

The new Audi RS6 could be the first to receive the new V8. The current Audi RS6 is powered by a twin-turbo 5.0 liter V10. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. It produces 580 horsepower and 479 ft-lb torque.
Audi used a 4.2-liter twin turbo V8 engine to produce 331 kW (450 PS) and 444 bhp on the previous RS6. BMW could be developing a new twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 550-600 horsepower for the next M5.
