The accident is caused by another car.
Greg Ellingson flew this weekend from Philadelphia to Boston in order to pick up his new 2017 Honda Civic Type R at the dealer. He took delivery of the hot hatch and drove back to Philly. Unfortunately, for both him and the car, the journey did not go according to plan.
Another motorist was behind him while he was in transit and did not pay attention. He failed to brake in the right time and crashed into the fake air vents of the Nurburgring FWD King. Some of the body panels need to be replaced while the liftgate glass was broken to pieces.
The Honda was so powerfully impacted that it was catapulted into the vehicle in front, and was then involved in a second collision. The aftermath photos show a sad reality: buckles on the hood, a scratched bumper and a severely damaged grille that exposes the radiator. You’ll see that the protective cover on the driver’s seat, which is so hugging and comfortable, remains. This makes it even more sad. It is hard to imagine what the owner is going through right now.
Despite his difficulties, he allowed us to publish his photos. Greg paid $2,200 more for the insured declared value at the time of purchase. This means that he will get the maximum amount payable by the insurance company – if the Civic Type R is declared a total loss. The car may be roadworthy again after repairing the body panels and headlights. The insurer will decide if the car can be repaired and made roadworthy again.
