How strong? Ford sells a Focus in Europe every 135 seconds.
The crossover boom has driven the Ford Focus from the U.S., as the current model of the compact car is no longer available in the country. This is because the Blue Oval has cut most of its passenger cars. The situation is different in Europe, where there are many people who want regular cars, despite the seemingly insatiable customer demand for SUVs.
Ford is pleased to report that Focus sales in Europe aren’t as good in 20 key Euro market markets since 2015. The company is also enjoying strong demand for the compact model. One car was sold in this year’s first 135 second, or 194,700 cars through October. The fourth-generation Focus was launched in June 2015 and has already sold more than 250,000 units on the Old Continent. Since 1998, the first Focus was launched in Europe. The Focus has sold more than 7,000,000 units worldwide.
The Focus’s return to track is due to a wide range of body styles and trim levels. The ST wagon and hatchback are currently offered with gasoline or diesel engines. A new RSS will be arriving soon. The fourth-gen Focus is available in a lifted Active guise, as well as a wagon and hatchback versions. A new Active X Vignale model combines the crossover-esque characteristics of the Active with the sophistication and refinement of the Vignale.
The car rides on 17-inch alloys, and features black roof and mirrors for a contrast effect. It comes with everything you need, including LED headlights and leather upholstery as well as an Active Park Assist system and a head-up display.
Ford will expand its Focus lineup in 2020 with the introduction of the mild-hybrid EcoBoost gasoline motor, which was first announced in May. Although the company won’t divulge any details, the electrified powertrain is likely to be identical to that offered for the Puma cross-over. This engine has a three-cylinder 1.0 liter engine with electric assistance and a combined output of 153 horses.
The Focus RS could also follow this route once launched later in the decade.
