It will be restored to its original glory on-screen.
The organization spent years trying to find it, eventually obtaining a Vista Group mainframe, which was out of date and used to provide vehicles for TV and movie studios. The video shows that professional data recovery services were unable to retrieve the mainframe data. This data included year, make and model information, VINs and which movie productions the vehicle was in. The group was able to access almost all of the data after using some unusual workarounds. This includes the GMC General which appeared in “” and other productions.
The owner was found through detective work. In late 2019, the group paid an unexpected visit to the vehicle’s owner. After its fame had ended, it had racked up 230,000 mile hauling produce. It was then abandoned. Close inspection revealed a VIN that was identical to the one found in the mainframe, as well as a sticker from the studio that looked similar to other “Knight Rider” vehicles. Knight Rider Historians discovered that the cab was painted blue, with no fake sleeper. However, black paint was found underneath.
The company is currently looking for the trailer that accompanied the truck. It was last seen in the mid-2000s. It’s not easy to track it down, considering it was painted in silver or white shortly after production ended. The foundation plans to restore it to its original glory. It will be a great pairing with the other original cars that the Historians have.
