2021 Mercedes C-Class Sedan With Upscale Look

Our rendering is based on the A-Class Sedan’s styling and the new CLA.

Mercedes wants to ensure its C-Class is competitive and fresh with the introduction of a new 3 Series by BMW and Audi’s A4 getting a surprising extensive facelift. Many spy photos have shown that the three-pointed star has been hard at work in preparation for the next iteration executive sedan. Today, we share our speculation rendering of the W206.

The digital design exercise draws inspiration from the A-Class and CLA Mercedes sedans. It imagines the redesigned C-Class with the new corporate face and sharp headlights found in both the compact and larger CLS. The next C will likely grow slightly in size to avoid overlap with the sedans below it.

Although the car will have a larger footprint, the added bulk of the MRA2 platform that makes more use of aluminum will offset the weight. The next-generation C-Class will weigh in at the same weight as the W205, or even lose a few kilos despite being larger.

With Mercedes’s desire to make cars as slim as possible, there is a good chance that the drag coefficient will be reduced to increase efficiency. The A-Class Sedan is today’s most aerodynamic vehicle, with a C d value only 0.22. Although the new C may not match this, we expect an improvement on the 0.26 drag coefficient of the previous model.

Mercedes explained that the facelifted C-Class did not make the transition from the COMAND infotainment systems to the newer version. New MBUX You’ll need to wait until the W206 for the high-tech setup. It will likely be more advanced than the current compact cars, and even the base C will have a fully digital instrument cluster.

Although engine details are still unknown at the time of writing, we know that a plug-in hybrid version of the engine is in development as per a series of spy photos (see above). which were taken earlier this year. The 13.5-kWh battery pack will provide enough power to allow for a range of 31 miles (50 km). Mercedes already confirmed that the next-generation C-Class will feature a hot C53 version below the “63” model.

It’s possible that the U.S.-spec C-Class may not be made in Alabama, where it is almost at full capacity and busy with SUVs. Due to high demand for models such as the GLE or GLS, Automotive News reports that the next C may not be built in the United States of America in order for SUVs to be made. If this is the case, the C-Class Sedan will be sold in North America from South Africa. This includes East London, where W205 C-Class cars can be assembled in LHD or RHD.

We expect the wraps to come off next year, when the new Mercedes C-Class will be available as a 2021MY in America.
