Modded Ford F-150 Raptor Drag Races Stripped-Down Jeep Wrangler

In a quarter-mile race, it’s bigger horsepower than lighter weight.

We understand what you are thinking. We know what you’re thinking because we also saw the thumbnail for this Carwow Video. It’s impossible for a Jeep Wrangler to compete with a Ford F-150 Raptorin a straight-line drag race. Although we didn’t think we would say this about Wranglers, the Jeep is going to be with a a data-inline-widget=”internal-links” data-params=”%7B%22make_alias%22%3A%22ford%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22raptor%22%7D” data-type-id=”0″ href=”https://www.motor1.com/ford/raptor/raptor%22%22%3A%22%3A%22%22%22%3A%22%22%3A%22%22%3A%22%22%22%22%3A%22%3A%22%3A%22raptor%22%3A%22%3A%22%3A%22raptor%22%3A%22raptor%22wrangler/

The Jeep’s stripped-down configuration is also a benefit. The yellow Unlimited Rubicon’s doors, top and spare tire are missing, while the Raptor’s beefy configuration is not missing anything. The Ford is about 1,000 pounds heavier than its Wrangler counterpart. This is before it sheds its body panels. This is a huge difference and although the Jeep has 270 horsepower from its turbocharged four-cylinder engine, compared to 450 twin-turbo horses of the Raptor’s V6-powered V6, the Jeep’s weight may make up the difference. This drag race suddenly seems less lopsided. There’s more to this drag race than that.

You’ll see the F-150’s moniker Monster Raptor if you have viewed the video or scanned our screenshot gallery. The Raptor’s EcoBoost engine is boosted to 520 horsepower by a UK-based company called Sutton. It sounds unfair, but it’s not. The Wrangler’s “modified” version is much lighter. Is it possible? It could, in a word. . . yes.

This video features a quarter-mile standing-start drag race, as well as a rolling drag race and braking test. People might believe that the Raptor’s 520-hp is superior to the Jeep’s 270-hp power, but we were shocked at how similar these vehicles are in terms of performance. This is true even at lower speeds.

You can see the final result of the David-versus-Goliath battle in the video.
