Mercedes EQV is the World’s First All Electric Premium Van

Luxury zero-emission luxury mobility for up to 8 passengers

During the 2019 Geneva Motor Show This year’s March, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the EQV Concept
It began as a prototype and is currently being transformed into a mass-production vehicle bearing the simple EQV moniker. The German company calls the new addition to its EQ lineup the “first fully electric premium MPV” and promises that it will provide emissions-free mobility along with impressive driving capabilities. The world premiere will be held at the Frankfurt Motor Show, 12-22 September.

The EQV looks almost identical to the concept earlier in the year. This is good news, as the study featured a clean and balanced design that stays true to Mercedes’ bus roots while also incorporating modern touches such as the sweptback headlights with integrated LED daylight running lights. The same thing happens inside the cabin, where the EQV shares its interior design with Geneva. It is quite surprising that an all-electric vehicle doesn’t have an engine stop button, but instead uses a traditional key. Depending on the configuration of the seats, the cabin can accommodate seven to eight people.

An electric drive system is mounted on the front axle and has a charging port in its bumper. The system produces 201 horsepower (150kW) and Mercedes claims a range of 249 miles (400 km) with two charges. The 90-kWh lithium-ion battery packs under the vehicle’s floor provide electric power. An intelligent water-cooled, onboard charger of 11 kW provides AC charging at home and at public charging stations.

The production all-electric van, just like the EQV Concept adopts the automaker’s MBUX infotainment system with a single tablet-style display instead of the 12.3-inch screens found on other Mercedes products. Customers can pre-condition the interior cabin temperature using a mobile app. Voice control is also possible.
