The C7 is over, and the C8 will soon follow.
There were rumors that the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 would be built alongside the C7 generation simultaneously , at least temporarily, to allow for gradual introduction of this new model. These reports are incorrect, and General Motors President Mark Reuss now says that they were never intended to be offered together.
Reuss stated GM Authority that “that wasn’t something we planned.” “This [mid-engine Corvette C8] was always the substitute.”
According to the latest reports, Chevy is having no trouble finding buyers for its C8, and automaker has orders for almost the entire 2020 model-year production run. The popularity of the Corvette was made even more evident by the addition to the workforce at the Bowling Green plant in Kentucky. This second shift will be used for the construction of the new Corvette.
There are still a few C7s available, and the used market is full. According to the most recent count, there are 6,025 remaining examples. Chevy even offered incentives to help them save a little on their prices.
The last C7 has been rolled off the assembly lines, and Chevy sold it to raise $2.7 million for charity. This money was donated to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Smart Home program, which builds mortgage-free homes for catastrophically injured veterans.
The C8 will be the first to arrive in showrooms by the end of this year. Prices start at $60,000 and you will find more information about the vehicle’s price in August. You can find more information about the C8 convertible later in the year.
