As a follow-up of the Le Fil Rouge, the company plans to create a new concept car.
Luc Donckerwolke is Hyundai’s design boss and has promised to end the “boring design theme”. With the debut of the Le Fil Rouge, a stunning South Korean marque, the South Korean marque is on a strong start. This four-door sedan with a sleek design will be followed by another concept later in the year.
Sang-yup Lee (Autocar) reiterated that the company plans to end the Russian doll theme, which many automakers have used for a long time. It’s not an acceptable solution because the brand has many models across its portfolio. Therefore, Sang-yup Lee said that it cannot create one design and then adapt it to fit all body types and sizes.
Sang-yup Lee explained that Le Fil Rouge was the “queen”, while the new concept would serve as the “bishop”.
The “Sensuous Sportiness”, design theme is also known. It was inspired by Italian cars of the 60s and 70s. This look can be seen on models like the Santa Fe and the Nexo and Kona crossovers. A new production car, believed to be the Sonata, will debut in 2019.
The new concept, due to be released in 2018, will attempt to “add emotional value” as the Le Fil Rouge did before it.
