The Glickenhaus007S Street-Legal Hypercar of Your Dreams

Not your average homologation special.

Your eyes are not deceiving. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus plans to construct 24 road-going variants of its SCG007 prototype racing car, which will be used in the 2021 World Endurance Championship. These are not crazy goals, but we’ll take a look at the possibilities of this dream becoming a reality.

It would be remiss to not mention that SCG’s 2021 racing campaign is looking very promising. The car is brand new but veteran drivers such as Romain Dumas and Pipo Derani will be supporting the team. Glickenhaus plans to make a road-legal version, so customers can drive the car to the track for a day and return home.

Glickenhaus provided the details in a Facebook post on what to expect from the 007S. We were shocked by the 1,400 horsepower (1.044 kilowatts), and the functioning air conditioning. However, the Nurburgring Nordschleife lap times of just under 6 minutes on road tires was jaw-dropping. This claim is not only huge, but it also requires a lot of work to get the packaging correct with the stated levels of performance.

Although the Porsche 911 EVO’s Nurburgring record time of 5 minutes 19.546 seconds remains untouchable, it is still challenging for the SCG007S to break that 6-minute barrier. The latter will be faster in terms of all-out power (1,044 horsepower) than the former (1,144 kW). However, it is difficult to predict how it will perform in aerodynamics.

We are still excited to see Glickenhaus’ performance on the road as well as at the track. If enough people are interested, 24 examples will be made of the 007S at a cost of $2.3 million (EUR1.96million at current exchange rates).
