This is the A-to Z guide on how to change the oil in your new ‘Vette.

Many 2020 Corvette C8s are getting their first oil changes as Chevrolet works on 2021 Corvette C8. A similar video was taken more than a year ago. We discovered a very specific part in the oil change for the new Corvette C8. This is something that is not usually seen in other vehicles. We’ll get to it in a moment.

As this. Video shows To return all oil to the dry sump oil tank, the engine should be left at idle for 20 seconds. You are now ready to begin the actual work. However, you must turn the engine off again.

Allow the oil to drain from the bottom of your engine oil pan by removing the engine oil drain plug. The drain plug for the V8 engine can be seen in this video. It is very large so take care when removing it. It is a good idea for you to inspect the oil before draining it.

Next, take out the oil filter. Inspect the O-ring seal at the drain plug and replace it if damaged. To be safe, replace the O-ring. Install the drain plug back into the oil pan. Tighten it to 18 lb/ft (25 Nm). After the gasket contacts, place the oil filter in the new location and tighten it three quarters to one turn.

Here’s the fun part. After you have completed the oil change, it is necessary to run the engine for five more minutes in order to heat the oil and make sure it is ready for inspection. The engine is still running when you check the oil. For all those who plan to use Mobil1 oil in their Corvettes, this part number is 123875 (0w40 ESD Dexos).
