Chevy Corvette Production To Stop After June 1

It’s not easy to produce the mid-engine ‘Vette on time.

Since production began, the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette faced many obstacles along the way. When we refer to hurdles, it means that production has been halted for various reasons. This week’s was the latest, from the week of May 24, . It was due to supply issues that were not connected with the global microchip shortage. Initial reports indicated that production would resume June 1, 2021.

GM Authority learned that the Corvette C8 production halt would be extended for another week. Thompkins confirmed the publication, pointing out that the issue of temporary supply remains.

Recall, an earlier production problem occurred between March 1 and 5, due to a shortage of transmission parts. There was also a production stoppage between January 29 and February 16, which was not due to the global chip shortage.

The Corvette’s exclusive assembly plant since the 1980s, Bowling Green in Kentucky is able to do a lot. Aside from the Corvette C8 Stingray which is highly sought after, there are also derivatives of the mid-engine Corvette. preproduction units of Corvette Z06 have been built at Bowling Green since April.

The production version of the prototype could be released this July, after it has been tested on public roads in the early part of the year. However, current production problems at Bowtie could cause delays in the launch of the product.
