On Sale in October
Ford keeps the Ranger up-to-date at both ends of the big pond in order to keep it competitive until the next generation model arrives. The truck is available in countless versions across the United States and Europe. Two new European variants have just been added to the range. Meet the Ranger Stormtrak or Ranger Wolftrak.
The two new models are limited-edition models and will be used in different parts of the hierarchy. The Ranger’s Stormtrak is a premium version of the Ranger, with new visual upgrades and features. The Wolftrak is designed for people who are outdoors and want off-road performance without sacrificing comfort or desirability.
The Ranger Stormtrak is based on Wildtrak’s series. It features LED headlights and additional underbody protection. A black rear bumper completes the package. The cabin features leather seats made from Range Raptor, embroidered with Stormtrak logos, and bolsters covered with technical fabric.
The Ranger Stormtrak will be limited-edition and powered by a 2.0-liter twin turbo diesel engine. The EcoBlue unit produces 213 horsepower (156 Kilowatts) as well as 369 pound-feet (599 Newton-meters). It is channeled to all four wheel via a 10-speed manual gearbox and a standard four-wheel-drive system.
Ranger Wolftrak comes with the single-turbo version 2.0 diesel with 170 horsepower (127 kW). You can choose between a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. As standard, the off-road equipment includes a selectable four-wheel-drive system with shift-on-the-fly function, electronically-locking rear differential, and all-terrain tires.
The truck’s two main selling points are a 1-tonne payload and 7,716 lb (3,500 kg) maximum weight to tow. Ford believes the limited-edition Wolftrak will be very popular with “customers in agriculture, forestry, and outdoor pursuit industries” as well as private buyers.
Starting in October, both the Ranger Stormtrak (and Ranger Wolftrak) will be available at Ford’s European dealers.
