Mitsuoka Rock Star is A Miata Converted into A Chevy CorvetteC2

It’s amazing.

We haven’t heard much about Mitsuoka in a while. This Japanese small-scale automotive manufacturer is known for making unusual cars with unique styling. Yes, that’s the manufacturer who produced the mid engine Orochi supercar. The automaker has a new and much more appealing offering.

The Rock Star, just like the Himiko before it, is built on the latest generation Mazda MX-5 Miata. Mitsuoka has used the Japanese roadster this time to create a smaller, more modern-day Chevrolet Corvette C2.

The proportions of the Miata make a great base for a Corvette Stingray with a smaller body. It is interesting that Mitsuoka is drawing inspiration from an American model because its cars often resemble British or other European cars from the past.Mitsuoka Rock Star is A Miata Converted into A Chevy CorvetteC2

The Rock Star was created to commemorate Mitsuoka’s 50 th anniversary. Automaker plans to make no more than 50 copies, at most, initially. It will be available six colors: Los Angeles Blue (Chica Red), New York Black (Cisco Orange), Washington White (White), and Arizona Yellow.

The original car is very similar in terms of design. Jalopnik pointed out that only the windshield and doors are left unchanged from the original roadster. All other body parts are custom.Everything underneath the hood is stock. A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated motor sends power to the rear wheels through either an automatic or a six-speed manual. The Corvette C2 could be made even more fun with an LS V8 swap…The Rock Star in Japan will start at 4,688,200 Japanese yen. This is approximately $41,000 at current exchange rates. A base Miata in the United States starts at $26,625 by comparison.
