This was the first win for the small Bronco, before customers deliveries.
Ford is yet to deliver the Bronco Sports to customers, but the Blue Oval already has its first win. Officially, the Bronco Sports won its class at the fifth edition Rebelle Rally. This is an all-women’s off-road event that starts near Lake Tahoe in Nevada and ends near Imperial Sand Dunes in California.
“Just finishing Rebelle was an impressive feat – we’re proud to all three Bronco Sport team,” stated Mark Grueber (Bronco brand marketing manager).
“The results clearly show that Bronco Sport is a reliable vehicle for both seasoned professionals and novices.” These women represent what Built Wild stands behind, and Shelby and Penny’s first-place finish helps to establish this new vehicle as the Bronco small SUVs,” he said.
The Rebelle Rally’s X-Cross class was won by the 2021 Bronco Sport. Shelby Hall, a professional driver and Penny Dale, an experienced navigator, were at the wheel of the Ford Escape-based crossover. They covered 1,200 miles in Nevada and California offroad desert terrain. As with all the other contestants, they relied on an old-fashioned compass-and map navigation system.
Three Ford Bronco Sport entries were submitted to the Rebelle Rally. The winning entry from Hall & Dale was also the winner. The second Bronco Sports finished fifth through the efforts of novice off-roaders Jovina Young, Erica Martin, and Ford Bronco Marketing team members. Sixth place was taken by Betsy Anderson and Elana Scherr, who piloted the third Bronco Sports.
Ford will start its Bronco Sport deliveries in the second half of the year, following its production which will begin at the beginning of the month. The full-fledged Bronco Sport will not be available to those who have already reserved and are waiting until next year.
