This sleek liftback combines Quattro with 470 horsepower.
You and I are familiar with the Audi A6. It is different from the one sold in China, where it is locally manufactured and sold only with a long wheelbase. We were not expecting another variant of the A6 to debut at Auto Shanghai 2021. We are not referring to the fact that it is electric. Its body style is what we are referring to, as it isn’t a sedan. It is a Sportback with a more sleek design, in the same vein of the A5 or A7.
The A6 E-Tron, despite its unusual name, is a beautiful low-slung liftback. It has massive 22-inch tires and a sleek side profile thanks to the mirror-replacing cameras. There are no door handles and it looks great. The A6 E-Tron measures 4.96 meters (195.2 in) in length, 1.96m (77.1 in) in width, and 1.44m (56.7 in height. A7 Sportback . These impressively slim matrix LED headlights can double as projectors thanks to their digital design. This tech has been around before. But Audi took it to the next level and created a smartphone video that projected the action onto a wall in front.
The A6 E-Tron Concept moves at the back with a broad lightbar that features digital OLED elements such as the Q5 facelift. Audi claims that the technology allows for “almost unlimited customizable variants” of the light signature. This includes those with fancy 3D spatial effects previously unimagined on vehicles from Ingolstadt.
The concept is based on the Premium Platform Electric, which was developed by Audi and Porsche. From 2022, the Q6 Etron and the next-generation Macan will first use the PPE underpinnings. The A6 E-Tron is now equipped with dual electric motors that produce 470 horsepower (350kilowatts) as well as an instant torque of 590 pounds (800 Newton-meters). This is enough power to run 0-60 mph (100 km/h), in just four seconds.
Shanghai-bound concept boasts a very impressive specification sheet that includes everything, from an air suspension to Quattro all wheel drive. For optimal weight distribution, the large 100-kWh battery is placed between the axles. It supports fast charging at speeds up to 270 kW. This means that you can travel more than 186 miles (300 km) in just 10 minutes. You can also charge it in as little as 25 minutes.
The A6 E-Tron can travel more than 435 miles (705 kilometers) per WLTP when the battery is full. This impressive figure can be achieved not only by using a large battery but also because of the aerodynamic body that has a drag coefficient 0.22. This is not Mercedes-EQS (0.20), however, it’s a remarkable figure.
Audi isn’t yet ready to reveal the interior of the concept, but the A6 E-Tron gives a glimpse of what is to come with PPE-based electric vehicles.
