It’s therapeutic to see a regular car get some attention from detailers.
The VW Golf isn’t what we would call an exciting car unless it’s a GTI/an R. It has been a popular car in Europe for many years, and it is easy to see why. It is spacious, practical and stylish. It is reliable, affordable, and meets all requirements for a family car. This fifth-generation hatch was Nikki’s primary mode of transport.
Although the TDI compact car has seen better days, who has the time or energy to pamper this Golf Mk5? Top Gear’s Clean Team rescued the car and made it as clean as possible in just eight hours. Although the interior may be a little rough, we’ve seen 16-year old cars in worse condition than this. It’s easy to see how filthy the cabin looks with two children and a dog. It’s not impossible to fix with the help of these two skilled men.
The Golf Mk5 was not fully restored due to time constraints. The eight hours spent rejuvenating the VW were worth it. The process began with removing everything from the car and cleaning out the engine bay. Next came the tedious task of cleaning the interior. Wet vacuuming was able to remove the stains from the rear bench, which was especially filthy.
The most noticeable defect was the faded headlights. After the professional detailer used sandpaper, they are now shining again. After aligning the VW badge, Nikki was able to show the golf to him. We were expecting her to be more excited when she saw her prized possession.
