Crazy Monza Crash: F3 Driver Takes a Huge Breath

He walked unharmed towards the medical aid.

motorsport can be dangerous. It involves a human being in a machine and a great speed. The latter amplifies everything by one ton. Racing should be restricted to a track but it’s not impossible for crashes to occur even in a controlled environment.

This is one of many examples of racing’s perils: A Formula 3 race car landing upside-down on a fence after getting some air. This happened when a Campos Racing car encountered a sausage curb around the bend. It was the beginning of the tragic incident.

The roll cage allowed Alex Peroni (Australian driver) to walk away from the wreck and towards the medical assistance on a calm segment of the FIA Formula 3 race at Monza. According to Motorsport.com, Peroni was taken immediately to a medical centre and will be admitted to a hospital later for precautionary checks.

FIA has been having problems with sausage kerbs and high exit kerbs. The organization is now working to eliminate these dangerous additions to its race tracks. Sausage curbs are used to stop drivers from running too wide around bends and minimize collisions onto the barriers.

The problem is with the height of sausage-kerbs. They can appear like little ramps along the track. Peroni’s accident was a clear example of their danger. Many race car drivers vented their anger on social media.

Monza has now removed the incriminating sausage kerb. The pit exit will remain closed until the fence is completely repaired.
