Although details are not available, Jeremy Clarkson was driving a modified Toyota Hilux to Eyjafallajokull in preparation for an upcoming segment. The volcano erupted shortly after filming was finished and released a cloud filled with ash about 30,000 feet high.
The outfit joked about the event, describing it as proof that Top Gear is responsible for nearly every evil in modern times.
Toyota joined the fray by saying that “Europe’s most advanced aircraft was rendered powerless by the atmosphere of ash.”
The episode will premiere in the summer.
