Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Spotted on Some Very Cool Wheels

The unique EV was found in a California shopping center.

Companies will sometimes take a little camouflage off their test mules in the weeks and days leading up to the debut of a new vehicle. This gives the world a peek. Porsche is not being shy about the 2021 Taycan Cross Turismo. These pictures show that the company is hosting a full-blown exhibit, and not just a peek.

This untrained Taycan Cross Turismo is proudly riding on some very attractive wheels. These rollers seem to be inspired by generative design. This is a discipline that creates strength and stability using natural branchlike forms. This unique and beautiful design features five spokes with aerodynamic appearances, which are quite different from any other Taycans.

It’s otherwise standard Cross Turismo: slightly higher ride height, lower-profile roof rails and plastic rocker panels. The interior of this example is also shown for the camera. It looks almost identical to the regular Taycan. The black upholstery contrasts well with the matte-finish wood trim, and the burnished brightwork. Cross Turismo is known for its outstanding build quality.

The long-roof Taycan will have more rear headroom and more cargo space than the regular EV. This solves two problems we had with the regular EV. It won’t be as spacious as the S-Class, but it will offer more comfort without sacrificing Porsche-signature styling and dynamics.

Although the company has not yet revealed details about the powertrain or vehicle specifications of its Cross Turismo, with so much skin, we think we’ll soon know what it is all about. It will likely be available in all-wheel drive form. The rear-drive model has been recently revealed, so the regular fastback version should only be available. It will likely be powered by the 670-hp (490-kilowatts) Turbo and 522-hp (390-kilowatts) 4S engines, but it is possible to get the Turbo S with 750-hp (560 kW) as well. The 2021 Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo is likely to cost a few hundred grand more than the $103,800 and $150,900 Turbo trims.
