The Black wing would be a great addition to any garden.
The Connecticut is a favorite of Cadillac enthusiasts. The luxury sedan is loved by even non-fans for its driving dynamics, refinement, and elegance. The hotter CT6V featured GM’s highly-respected Black wing engine.
The Omega platform is a key reason for the CT6’s success. It is a vehicle structure with advanced features that uses a mixed-material approach to the body structure. It uses mixed material, which means it uses aluminum and steel in areas it considers appropriate. What is the result? The result? A light vehicle with exceptional performance.
According to a report from Cadillac Society, the Omega platform was Cadillac’s candidate to support the CT5. The XT6 crossover was also supposed to be built on the platform. However, both plans were scrapped by Cadillac’s decision not to develop autonomous technology and electric vehicles.
The CT5 has now moved to the new CTS platform Alpha 2, while the XT6 uses C1. The CT6 is the only Cadillac that uses the Omega platform, and consequently the Blackwing V8 mill.
Here’s an idea: If Cadillac goes ahead with the CT5 on the Omega platform, and consequently, the CT5-V model, there is a high chance that the more popular CT5-V will use the Blackwing. The main reason the Blackwing was not included in the CT5V is because it wouldn’t fit.
The Blackwing would have been worth it if Caddy remained focused on high-performance cars. It is what it was and we will have to wait for the next move from Caddy.
