It can almost outrun the supercharger’s shriek.
We should all be happy, friends. We live in 2018, and a 840-horsepower (626 kilowatts) Dodge Challenger Demon isn’t fast enough to drive on the streets. Hennessey Performance has an upgrade package available for Demon owners, which increases the output to 1,200 horsepower. The HPE1200 is the appropriate name. We don’t know if this screaming sound is coming from the supercharger or the tarmac asking for mercy.
This muscle car is extremely fast and we know it. Although the video is only a minute and half long, it shows a blast from 64 to 148 mph in just eight seconds. You can see the Demon’s speed increase by eight seconds.
How did Hennessey gain such powerful power from the Demons? Although we don’t have all the details, it is not a case of just adding more power to the Demon. The headers and exhaust system are also upgraded. Hennessey uses forged internals to withstand the high power. He also uses a new engine tune. Hennessey makes the Demon NHRA compliant by installing a proper roll cage and even a parachute for slowing down at the other end. When you need to stop, you know you have a fast car.
Hennessey is on a roll with insane power upgrades for a range of vehicles. This is the same company that created the Demon’s arch-nemesis, a 1000-hp (745 kW) Camaroaptly named The Excorcist. This could mean that a new Exorcist is on the horizon with more power to take down this hyper Demon. Hennessey seems to have the potential for the impossible, so we’ll just need to wait and see.
