Dodge Charger fake police car goes flat-out on the Autobahn

American muscle on the German autobahn.

The Dodge Charger sedan is not a common sight on Germany’s autobahn. It even has the graphic of an American police car. This car is capable of running at top speed on an unrestricted section of the national highway.

This 2012 Charger is in the R/T trim with the 5.7-liter V8. According to official specs, the engine produces 370 horsepower (276kilowatts or 325 metric horsepower) as well as 395 pound-feet (536 Newton meters) of torque. The engine runs on a five-speed manual transmission, instead of the eight-speed used in a modern version.

The video’s first half shows a lot of traffic on the autobahn. This is a great example of how it feels to drive on a section of unrestricted German highway. Although there is no speed limit on this road, most drivers aren’t going crazy. Many people are driving in the left lane at around 80 miles an hour (129 km per hour).

The driver stops filming because there is so much traffic. The video starts to pick up when the road is clearer. The Charger’s acceleration is impressive for a vehicle that’s only 10 years old and not an SRT model. The acceleration is a bit slower at 124 mph (200 km/h).

Dodge maintains its speed, but it slows down to 130 mph (209 km/h). The digital speedometer flashes briefly at 210 km/h for a moment. The video ends when traffic causes the driver to slow down.

The video below shows you how a modern, more powerful Charger performs on the autobahn. It can go much faster than 130 mph.
