The C8 is the first Corvette with right-hand drive straight from the factory.
The Chevy C8 is not only the first ‘Vette with its engine behind the seats, but it’s also one of the first to have a right hand-drive version from the factory. It’s not a secret. This official image was published in 2019, while the official press image was first released in 2020. The first image of a production model was also seen in early 2019.
The Tokyo Auto Salon 2020 was the Japanese debut of the RHD Corvette C8, and reservations for the first mid-engine Corvette have been accepted since last year. Although the preview at Fuji Speedway was meant to be open to all who had reserved their units, the current Japanese health climate forced the automaker not to hold the event but instead to stream live.
The two-hour program featured five Corvettes from professional drivers in different colors during a demonstration run at the famous race track. After the demo run, GM Japan President Tadashi Wakamatsu hosted a “Driver’s Talk Show”.

It is important to mention that the production of Corvette C8 remains on hold at Bowling Green, Kentucky. This is due to parts shortages. As such, the global supply of mid-engine Corvette is uncertain at this time.
