Officially unveiled Mercedes GLE Coupe

Mercedes officially revealed the GLE Coupe after this afternoon’s leak.

The GLE Coupe was designed to take on the BMW X6. It is billed as a “striking combination” of a coupe, and a crossover. Although the jury is still out on this hyperbole, the crossover has a prominent front fascia that features a single-bar grille and LED headlights. It also features a dynamic roofline, and a distinct rear end that is reminiscent of the SClass Coupe. The model also features chrome trim and plastic body cladding. Optional 22-inch and 21-inch alloy wheels. GLE 450 AMG takes it one step further with an AMG body kit and 21 inch lightweight alloy wheels. It also features an AIRMATIC air suspension with an adaptive damping system, and an automatic lowering function that reduces ride height when traveling at higher speeds.

GLE 450 AMG’s automatic nine-speed transmission has a Dynamic Select system that allows for five modes to be selected: INDIVIDUAL (COMFORT), SLIPPERY and SPORT+). The latter mode allows for gear changes to be “acoustically enhanced” and cockpit instruments to respond quicker and more “sharply”. A “photo-realistic motorsports graphic” is used to display the car’s longitudinal and lateral accelerations, as well as the steering angle. The GLE 450AMG interior is distinguished by a nappa-leather sports steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, and carbon fiber trim with pianoblack accents.
