Cam Shaft pays tribute to Ayrton Senna’s death by wrapping a Lotus Esprit Sport 350 in the John Player Special livery, and tuning the engine.
Cam Shaft, a German company that specializes in vinyl wrapping, is becoming quite inventive. The Kempen-based company Cam Shaft, which specializes in vinyl wrapping, has chosen to honor the artistic approach of Formula One legend Ayrton Senna with a 1999 Lotus Esprit Sport 350 wrapped with the John Player Special livery Senna used on his Lotus Renault 97T back in 1986. Cam Shaft isn’t content with applying adhesive vinyl. They also did tuning upgrades.
1999’s Esprit Sport 350 had an all-aluminum twin-turbocharged V8 that produced 355HP (261kW/350bhp) & 400Nm (295lbft) of torque. The Esprit Sport 350 weighed 1,380 kg and could go from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. It reached its maximum speed of 282 km/h (175mph). Only 50 units were made.
Cam Shaft also added a Red Race Control module to the Esprit and upgraded turbos with a custom-designed turbo cooling system. This is based on the Lotus-Omega and two 100-cell exhaust catalysts. The Esprit now has 492HP (362kW/ 485bhp), enabling a sprint of 100km/h of 4.3 seconds, and a top speed at 305km/h (190mph). Cam Shaft also replaced the Renault 5-speed gearbox by a 6-speed dog engagement gearbox. He also added AP racing 4-piston calipers featuring 330mm perforated disks.
It’s a fitting tribute.
