The ads feature the ST, Platinum and Hybrid versions.
The fifth-generation Explorer will be a big deal. With Ford focusing on SUVs and getting rid of all cars in the United States, it’s no surprise that there is a lot riding on this model. The 2020 midsize SUV costs $36,675 to $64,610, for a fully loaded model. But which one is right for you? The Blue Oval may help you to decide which trim level is right for you. Three new ads highlight the different trim levels: ST (Platinum), Hybrid, and Platinum.
The Explorer ST, which has a base price of $54,740, is the sportiest. It stars in the “Nighttime Adventures” commercial. A 35-second video shows the adventures of a marine biologist (cue Seinfeld jokes). We see her leave a remote area and tackle difficult terrain to return to the city, where she will take the children and husband to ice cream in the 400-horsepower SUV.
The second spot (above), is focused on the $58,250 Explorer Platinum. It starts with Bryan Cranston, aka. Walter White explains that you don’t need to travel to another planet in order to become an explorer. It’s possible to be an explorer here on Earth. The 65-second commercial, “Journey Home,” tells the story about an astronaut returning to Earth in the flagship SUV. After such a long day, they go shoe shopping and buy rotisserie chicken to save time.
The $53,370 Explorer Limited is the focus of the third and final commercial. The 35 second “Civilization” ad features a dog-sled driver in remote Arctic camp, loading his dogs into an SUV and driving to a spa to reward them for their hard work.
These clips are part a new ad campaign which will debut this weekend at professional and college football games. Ford also prepared TV ads and radio ads for you to learn all about the new Explorer.
