Why It Matters Now:

It is fascinating to think of a more versatile Audi GT: Combining the sportiness and practicality of a coupe with the added utility of a wagon.

Audi experimented with modifying the coupe’s roofline, and modifying its rear to make more room inside. This was done to increase the cargo area. Audi claimed that the interior of the concept was spacious enough to accommodate “substantial transport requirements”, especially after lowering the rear seats to increase volume from 255 to 730 Liters.

The TT-based Shooting Brake concept was a great idea. The six-cylinder engine was powerful and pumped 250 horsepower to both axles through the Quattro system. OLED display, adaptive damping and LED headlights were some of the high-tech features. These features were very popular 13 years ago.

The 19-inch double-spoke wheels were taken from the RS4 back in those days, from which the concept also inherited a flat-bottomed steering column. The sleek body was painted in “Electric White”, and it draws inspiration from both the futuristic RSQ concept in “I, Robot” as well as the A4-based DTM racing car.

Now, Audi has reintroduced the idea for a TT-based shooting stop, but with an Allroad twist. This rugged concept was built on the third generation coupe. It featured a different powertrain that combined a 2.0 TFSI and a pair electric motors. It was significantly faster than the predecessor, and much more powerful. The same philosophy of blurring between a coupe or a wagon was used.

The Allroad Shooting Brake concept was longer, wider and taller than its predecessor. Later that year, another version of the TT was presented at the Beijing Motor Show. This crossover. The TT Offroad Concept (pictured above) did not make it to the assembly line. However, the Q4 that will be coming next year will use the exact same recipe.
